A deadly fire is under investigation in Birmingham’s Wylam community. Fire Chief Sebastian Carrillo tells WBRC two people were in the home in the 3800 block of 7th Avenue when the fire started. One man got out, but another was not able to. A cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials say the home did not have a working smoke detector. This is Birmingham’s first fire fatality of 2019.
