Firefighters from the Center Point Fire District were battling a brush fire off of Goodner Mountain Road at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The fire is in the area of Old Mill Branch, firefighters said, and two engine companies were called to the scene. According to sources on the scene, a man was clearing brush in the area Tuesday night and the fire has been spreading since then. The state forestry team is one the scene to assist with the fire fighting.
