Multiple families at a Center Point apartment complex are out of their homes tonight following a fire from early Tuesday afternoon. In total, 21 people were displaced, and of those 21, Center Point Fire District Chief Gene Coleman says eight of them are children. Coleman says the fire started on the third floor of the apartment, but the cause is undetermined at this time. Despite the number of people displaced, nobody was injured. The fire was considered a two-alarm fire and crews from Center Point, Birmingham and Trussville worked the fire. Staff at the Parkway Villa Apartment Leasing Office says the building where the fire took place had 10 units, and of those 10, six were occupied. All ten units were affected to the point where nobody can live in them. Crews say there was a partial floor collapse in the building. The Red Cross is helping the families displaced, and they have been moved to open apartments in the complex.
