The fire that destroyed Tuscaloosa’s Bar 17 nightclub happened just before midnight. A fire fighter working to put it out injured his ankle. Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue said he was in stable condition Monday morning. However, the building is a total loss. Thick smoke was coming from the building when fire fighters arrived. They tried to put the fire out from the inside, but it became so dangerous fire fighters went outside the structure and did what they could to stop it from spreading. Monday morning, you can see where the ceiling has caved in. Tuscaloosa Fire Chief Randy Smith believes it may have started in the center of the business. But they don't know what caused it yet.
