Firefighters with the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) battled a huge fire in the Alpine community of Talladega County for a second day Wednesday. The good news there are no homes or people in immediate danger. The fire is currently estimated at approximately 500 acres in size. AFC personnel are using bulldozers to contain the flames. Because of current drought conditions and persistent high temperatures, the AFC issued a Fire Danger Advisory for all 67 counties on Monday. In the last seven days, 122 wildfires have burned over 1,000 acres of land in Alabama.
