Hanceville firefighters are literally rolling out something new when they respond to accidents. "It's designed to slow people down," Hanceville Asst. Fire Chief Bart Absher said. It's a portable speed bump. Absher says after working accidents and seeing people speed past emergency responders he had to find something to slow them down. "Even if you go by an accident at 30 miles an hour. If one of our staff members needs to get something out of the truck and you hit them at 30 miles an hour they're injured severely," he said. "It's terrifying and we want to get off the road as fast as we can because we don't like being out there at all," Absher said. Rolling out the speed bump is pretty easy and usually only requires one person to do it.
