A 61-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault Monday after he allegedly stabbed a Mobile fire captain, police and fire officials said.
Ronald Hurd, 61, was charged with second-degree assault, two counts of menacing and second-degree possession of marijuana in connection with the stabbing of the fire captain at the station at 57 South Lafayette St., police said.
Hurd allegedly pulled out a knife at the station around 3:20 a.m. Monday and threatened another firefighter. When the captain went to intervene, he was cut on the hand. Hurd then allegedly threatened another firefighter with the knife before fleeing. A fire department spokesman said the captain’s name was not being publicly released.
