The Houston County Commission approved the CARES Act funding for the Houston County volunteer fire and EMS associations.
This funding will allow the associations to purchase equipment and materials to combat COVID-19 while doing their daily jobs.
This will be allocated after the state approval, which the Emergency Management Agency expects to receive soon.
“So we’re very pleased and appreciative to the Houston County Commission for approving that,” said Chris Judah, director of the Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Agency. “It is going to help vastly the Houston County EMS Association and those rescue squads that are out in the county doing their job every day so we’re very pleased in that, and this equipment will be very useful for the mitigation of COVID-19 and daily use on those trucks.”
The funds will allow new cardiac monitors for all ambulances and more PPE for all first responders.
