The Hale County Emergency Medical Services is currently operating with three ambulances after two were involved in accidents. According to Hale County Emergency Management Agency Director, Russell Weeden, two ambulances were totaled within the last six months. "Two ambulances in the last six months or so that that have been totaled one by fire and one that was crashed into a tree," Weeden said. The fleet which is normally five is now three. Hale County officials have ordered two new ambulances. One order was placed nearly a year ago and still hasn't arrived and another is expected to arrive late Spring 2022. Weeden credits the delays to current supply chain shortages. "With COVID, ambulances were much busier during that time so we really wore our ambulances out more than usual, so when we tried to order new ones they weren't as available as they used to be before," he said.
