VIDEO: John Hughes recalls seeing plumes of smoke and hearing the cries of a man trapped inside his house. "Sometime around 2:30 p.m., there was a man's scream that was just a scream -- horrifying," Hughes said. Hughes lives off the 8000 block of Peters Road in Cabot where multiple fire crews responded to a fatal house fire Wednesday afternoon. Hughes lives just behind the mobile home that became engulfed in flames. By the time he called 911, it was too late. "It moved too fast for anything to be done. It went straight from smoke to outright inferno within a few seconds," Hughes said. Pulaski County Sheriff's Lt. Cody Burk said a deputy was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation after attempting to break through the structure and rescue the stranded man.
