The Pangburn Volunteer Fire Department is in the market for a new fire truck after learning it will receive a $15,000 grant from the Rural Community Grant Program.
According to a letter to Mayor Michael Marsh from Becca Caldwell, director of the Division of Rural Services, Gov. Asa Hutchinson will present the grant to a representative of the department in a special awards ceremony Oct. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the state Capitol in the Governor's Reception Room.
At a Pangburn City Council meeting last week, Marsh said the city had promised to match the amount of the grant, but that he wanted to approve a larger amount.
"What I'd like to do is approve up to $45,000, which would be $30,000 on our part. I'm not sure if we'd even have to spend that much, but I'd like to authorize $45,000 total," he said.
