According to the Perry County Sheriff's Office, a woman identified as 22-year-old Sandra Rappold has been arrested for murdering Steve Fason and trying to destroy the evidence by burning down his house. Police say they responded to a call about a house fire at approximately 5:48 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9. Arkansas State Police were called to the scene after a deputy "found evidence that someone was possibly injured." During the investigation, it was found that Fason, the homeowner, was missing. Police say they obtained information that Rappold had killed Fason and "dumped him in the dump" on Carden Farms, where police found his body. Rappold confessed to killing Fason, hauling his body to the dump, and attempting to destroy evidence by burning down his home.
