Some of El Dorado’s avid golfers may remember a benefit night golf tournament organized each year by El Dorado Professional Firefighters Local 1704 to fundraise for Camp Sunshine. Those that have been missing the event are in for a treat, because it has been revived and is scheduled for March. “This used to be a thing that we did every year and it kind of fell apart,” 1704 Vice President Justin Tolin said. “The organizers left the department and the changing of the guard at the Lions Club, it all happened at the same time and kind of derailed the project. Now we’re trying to bring it back as our annual fundraiser.” Local 1704 is a firefighters association representing 90 percent of the paid firefighters in El Dorado.
