Fayetteville police say there is a water main break affecting a large area of the city. According to a news release from the city of Fayetteville, the break occurred near Sharon Street and Pine Avenue. The police department says the department and the Fayetteville Fire Department are aware. Crews will be on the scene working to repair the break and estimate it will take 10-12 hours. The fire department urges citizens to temporarily curb their water usage while the situation is being handled. Police ask to avoid the area. According to the city of Fayetteville, city water tanks are currently stabilizing, which may cause some residents to experience temporarily low water pressure and air in home water lines. The city says residents who experience low water pressure or air in their water lines can drink the water. No boil water order will be necessary.
