VIDEO: A 6-year-old girl is out of the hospital after a firefighter saved her from a burning home. Jaliyah Nicholson was found upstairs when crews arrived Wednesday at the home near Seventh Street and Dobbins. “She was responsive and calling for her mother the entire time,” says Jaliyah’s mother. Shanika Brown. “Everything happened very quickly; it was very devastating.” Jaliyah’s step-father, Dewayne Beck, says the smoke alarms went off and one of the kids found a bed in the boys’ room on fire. The boys were still in school. Jaliyah was asleep in her own room down the hall. “I tried to put it out,” says Beck. “(My) Fiance was getting everybody outside. We were all downstairs and the smoke got too big.”
