The Glendale Fire Department has trained 30,205 people in compression-only CPR. Dr. Janet Boberg oversees the CPR program and she has taught 912 classes of this life saving technique. Just last year Dr. Boberg saw firsthand the benefit of her teachings after one of her students saved the life of her husband when he went into cardiac arrest at home.
CPR is a skill that everyone should know, and after one 90-minute class residents can be certified. The likelihood of performing CPR on a loved is heightened since 88% of cardiac arrests happen at home. The classes taught by Glendale Fire have taken place at schools, community centers, churches and various locations across the city.
