Grand Canyon National Park managers say one of the three fires ignited by lightning recently on the North Rim grew. The Ikes Fire is located three miles east of Swamp Point. It started on July 25, according to park officials. In the last few days, the fire went from just a few acres to 25 acres. Fire managers plan to get around the fire to keep it from spreading. According to fire managers, lightning from the recent monsoon activity ignited several fires around the park. The Lindbergh Fire near Lindbergh Hill was contained at about two acres. Firefighters attacked the small fire from the air. And some rain helped their efforts. The Dutton Fire is at the northeast edge of the Powell Plateau. It burned in ponderosa pine and brush. Fire managers continue to monitor this fire.
