Arizona Fire & Medical Authority ladder truck 102 is back in service at Station 102, 20622 Stardust Blvd. A problem was found with the unit when it was undergoing a third-party safety check in Nov. 2018. Eric Kriwer, AFMA deputy chief and fire marshal, explained the trucks are checked twice per year. “We cannot have failure at an incident. People will be hurt if it is not operating as it should,” Mr. Kriwer said. In addition to using the ladders for height, ladder trucks also carry special equipment used in rescues and other special situations. Station 102 also has a ladder tender unit stationed there which carries the special equipment and responds to all calls where needed.
