Thanks to a new partnership, the station's radiant yellow fire truck now shares its bay with a bright red Phoenix truck and the firefighters share their kitchen with a new Phoenix crew.
In response to a growing number of emergency calls near the city's border that sent Glendale fire units into Phoenix to help, the two cities have made a historic move to combine forces under a single roof at Glendale's Fire Station 154 near 44th Drive and Peoria Avenue.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Rob McDade said Phoenix has partnerships with all other Valley fire departments. Through these partnerships and automatic aid agreements, when a call comes out near a city border, the closest fire station is dispatched regardless of which city the station is in.
