In preparation for being the sole provider of emergency medical services in the community, Sun City Fire and Medical Department officials are planning to purchase up to two new ambulances. The fire district board approved allowing the department staff to make those purchases at the appropriate time. But staff indicated they might put in the orders for them this month to guarantee the best price and hold their place in the production line. “We’re still working on this and will come back to the board when we are ready,” said Ron Deadman, Sun City fire chief. Sun City Fire and Medical Department has been operating its own ambulances since fall of 2016. But the agency has not been the sole provider.
