Wiring in the attic is believed to be the cause of a house fire Saturday afternoon in Solomon. The Safford Fire Department was called to an active fire on First Avenue on Saturday at roughly 1:52 p.m. Once the fire crews arrived, they surveyed that smoke was coming from the attic of the house and that the attic itself was too small to climb into. Climbing atop the house, the fire crews cut holes and vented the roof in an effort to locate and extinguish the fire. “We were able to find (the fire) with a thermal imaging camera in the bathroom, and we were able to access it from within the bathroom. We pulled the ceiling out and were able to get to the fire and burned debris out and turned it over to the homeowner,” said Safford Fire Chief Clark Bingham.
