Eloy fire marshal to retire on Friday

For more than 31 years he’s been a staple in the Eloy Fire District working as firefighter, paramedic, engineer and becoming the district’s first fire marshal. Raised in Eloy and being a second-generation firefighter, Robert “Bob” Poindexter grew up playing around fire trucks and was familiar with the people. “As I started with the fire department and learned more about it I got more interested and kind of made it my life,” Poindexter said. “Once you get into something like this people find out really fast whether or not they’re really cut out for it. There’s no middle ground. You either hate it or you love it. I was one of those people who just loved it.”
