The Southwest Area Incident Management Team #2, led by Incident Commander Rich Nieto, will be taking over management of the Museum Fire near Flagstaff.
So far, the blaze has been managed by the same type three team that had been managing the Newman Fire, said Coconino National Forest spokesperson George Jozens.
“They basically just picked everything up and moved to managing the Museum Fire,” Jozens said. There are five levels of incident management teams. While type three teams will manage incidents on the level of the state or a metropolitan area, type one teams respond to and manage larger scale incidents and natural disasters.
There are only 16 type one teams across the United States. These teams have more training and experience compared to incident management teams of other types.
