Late April through early July signals high fire danger in Flagstaff as temperatures climb and moisture becomes scarce; it's these months that put officials and public alike on alert as they wait for monsoon season to replenish forests and watersheds. With this dry time of year just around the corner, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management has released a mobile phone app intended as a one-stop shop for information on all things fire in Arizona. Arizona Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal (AZ-WRAP) went live in early March and is available on both Apple and Android devices. Its features include wildfire alerts as well as prescribed burn, closure and evacuation notifications, ways to report unsanctioned campfires and a forum that allows users to send questions to foresters, fire marshals and dispatch.
