Residents of much of the area between Quartzsite and Salome are about to be included in the Quartzsite Fire District. The district is in the final steps of completing their expansion. Service to the new areas will commence May 18. In a press release, the district stated, “The District’s primary focus has always been service to the community. The new District area will encompass areas and communities that have been previously uncovered and meets the goal of the District to provide emergency medical and fire protection to residents and visitors to the area.” Over the last year, the District has been collecting signatures and holding meetings in the Brenda area and along U.S. Route 60. The petitions were turned in to La Paz County and were verified.
