For over 20 years, Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services has been a second family to Brian Jones. He has come a long way since he first started off as a reserve firefighter about 25 years ago, eventually becoming a battalion chief and then deputy fire chief. After serving as interim fire chief since the end of last year, Jones was named permanent fire chief this week in the most recent Sierra Vista city council meeting. The longtime Sierra Vista resident sat down with the Herald to talk about what it’s like stepping into this new role. HR: How does it feel to be named chief? ”It’s exciting and humbling. I’m really excited about being able to lead such a wonderful group of men and women. We got a great organization here and I’m following in the footsteps of some really great leaders. I hope to be able to own up to them.”
