Seven residents were displaced from their homes after a fire broke out at the Palm Shadows Apartments on South 10th Avenue, Sunday.
The Yuma Fire Department (YFD) said when personnel arrived to the scene, there was heavy smoke and fire coming from apartment #3 of a 6-unit block of apartments in the complex. YFD said most of the damage was contained to the apartment where the fire started. However, the seven residents from a total of three apartments needed assistance from the American Red Cross.
The Yuma Police Department provided assistance with traffic and crowd control.
According to firefighters, the fire was believed to have started in the living room of apartment #3.
