A 7-year-old Phoenix boy got a hero's thank you for helping save the lives of his pregnant mom and his unborn sister.
The Phoenix Fire Department and Banner Health honored Sabyan Varela on Monday for his quick thinking. He was given a plaque from firefighters, and nurses gave him the Banner Estrella Hero Award. He also got a Spiderman toy.
It was on Oct. 1 when Sabyan was with his mother, Simone Varela, and she had an eclamptic seizure at home. He got his mother's phone and called his father, Robert Varela.
"She slowly started to fall back on the couch and started to shake and stuff. I told my dad I think she's having a seizure," said Sabyan.
His dad then called 911 and told him to remain calm and wait for help.
