VIDEO: Phoenix firefighters say a family of five is safe after their apartment caught fire Tuesday night. Phoenix, Glendale and Scottsdale fire departments were called to the complex near 32nd Street and Bell Road around 6:35 p.m. Initial reports indicated the family was trapped inside their unit. The family was able to self evacuate before firefighters arrived, according to Phoenix Fire Captain Kenny Overton. All the residents were evaluated for light smoke inhalation and refused transport to the hospital, Overton said. No firefighters were injured and the cause of the fire will be under investigation.
