A Somerton man is thanking the Somerton Cocopah Fire Department and the crews who saved his life after undergoing cardiac arrest earlier this year.
According to the Somerton-Cocopah Fire Department, on May 25th of this year, Curtis Laverdiere experienced extreme chest pain and called 9-1-1.
When the Somerton Cocopah Firefighter-Paramedics arrived they immediately loaded Mr. Laverdiere on the ambulance gurney for transport.
While loading him into the ambulance, Laverdiere went into cardiac arrest and SCFD personnel immediately began CPR and followed this up with shocking the patient. He regained his pulse at this time, and was even able to speak to the SCFD personnel who were treating him.
While in route to YRMC he once again went into cardiac arrest and was again shocked successfully; and upon arrival at YRMC, Laverdiere went into cardiac arrest again and was, for a third time, shocked successfully.
