Known cases of COVID-19 in Arizona passed 200,000 on Thursday and known deaths approach 5,000. Metrics such as hospitalizations and percent of tests coming back positive continue to improve, but health officials caution Arizonans to keep up individual efforts to slow the spread.
Identified cases rose to 200,139 and known deaths totaled 4,929, according to the daily report by the Arizona Department of Health Services. The 33 new known deaths reported on Thursday represent the new deaths identified by the Arizona Department of Health Services that day, but many occurred days and weeks prior. Hospitalization metrics such as patient counts, ventilators in use and ER visits for COVID-19 have been on downward trends for about six weeks, according to hospital data reported to the state.
