An out-of-town hiker had to be rescued by Phoenix firefighters Sunday after she hurt her ankle while climbing Camelback Mountain. The unidentified 29-year-old was hoisted off the Cholla Trail by first responder technical rescue teams. They were sent to the site around 1 p.m. The woman had gotten about three-quarters of the way up the mountain before she was injured, according to a fire department e-mail. The woman was alert and talked to the team on the phone before they reached the mountain. A helicopter brought her down to the base of Echo Canyon, and from there she was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
