A good deed turned into a dangerous situation at a Carefree fire station Thursday evening. An elderly couple turned in "what appeared to be" an old stick of dynamite to a fire station near Tom Darlington Drive and Cave Creek Road, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. The dynamite was moved to a "safe" location and fire personnel requested the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office to respond, the Rural Metro Fire Department said. MCSO's bomb squad was then sent out to the fire station by deputies. They took possession of the dynamite and safely disposed of it, MCSO said. No injuries were reported.
