VIDEO: The Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department has just welcomed a new member to the team. Meet Zeta, the department’s new ATF arson detection dog! Zeta came to the department last month after she underwent a six-week training course in Virginia with her handler, fire investigator David Zehring, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Zeta’s job is to alert crew members about evidence found at the scenes of suspected arson fires. She is the only "ATF accelerant detection canine." And since she's in a partnership with ATF, Zeta can be deployed for national call-outs.
Folks at the department call her a sweet girl and a hard worker. In fact, she trains twice a day!
