Firefighters keep 'Slate Fire' to 10 acres south of Prescott; cause still unknown

After battling the "Slate Fire" for much of the afternoon, the Prescott National Forest reported around 6 p.m. Sunday that much of the blaze 8 miles south of Prescott was extinguished. A PNF Facebook post said, "Air resources did an incredible job keeping the fire at approx. 10 acres while crews continue working on creating access routes to the fire. Very little smoke is visible this evening with minimal fire activity." The cause of the fire is still unknown. Firefighters battle ‘Slate Fire’ about 8 miles south of Prescott Firefighters have responded to a wildfire approximately 8 miles south of Prescott near Mt. Tritle, according to Prescott National Forest spokesperson Debbie Maneely on Sunday afternoon.
