Firefighters fully contained a lightning-sparked wildfire southwest of Tucson, officials announced Wednesday morning.
The wildfire, named the Navarro Fire, reached its final acreage at 2,306 acres, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management officials.
The fire began on the night of July 11 when a thunderstorm moved through the area and lightning sparked the fire in the Sierrita Mountains, about 14 miles west of Sahuarita and 10 miles northwest of Green Valley, according to a report by the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.
Arizona State Forestry tweeted that one fire engine had remained behind to monitor hot spots and interior smoke, ensuring that the fire remains fully contained.
