Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Arizona reached 156,301 on Friday, July 24, an increase of 3,349 from the previous day; and the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 reached 3,142 after an increase of 79 new deaths from the previous day, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Of the total number of COVID-19 cases in Arizona since the start of the pandemic in January, 49 percent of the total number of cases — 76,606 — have come in July alone.
On Monday, Arizona health officials reported a 12.4% positive test rate.
On a positive note, state officials reported that reliance on ventilators was down, with 963 of the state’s available ventilators – or nearly half – being used by COVID-19 patients, leaving nearly 1,000 unused. The last time Arizona had more ventilators on standby than in use was on July 11, when 51% were available.
