PHOTO: Fire investigators were on the scene Tuesday searching for the cause of a blaze Friday that destroyed a vacant warehouse in Casa Grande. Assistant Fire Chief Dave Kean said it’s still uncertain how the fire started in the warehouse on Jimmie Kerr Boulevard, near Interstate 10. It took about four-and-a-half hours for 52 firefighters, including those from Casa Grande Fire Department and several neighboring agencies, to get the blaze under control, Kean said. On Saturday, Casa Grande firefighters were back on the scene after embers from the blaze ignited additional fires in nearby brush and a dumpster. “The building was still smoldering on Saturday when high winds blew some of the embers,” Kean said. By late Saturday afternoon, brush and dumpster fires were extinguished and the smoldering had stopped.
