PHOTOS: Fire retardant stained the homes and properties of several residents on Wednesday after the Aquila Fire burned 843 acres the day before. The wildfire started northeast of Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway near the community of Desert Hills. The fire burned one home and five secondary structures to the ground. It also left hundreds of residents and animals on an overnight evacuation order until Wednesday afternoon. Melanie and Jimmy Morris fled to a friend's house Tuesday evening as the fire quickly burned the vegetation on a nearby hill. The couple had to evacuate with their three-month-old daughter and two other young children. "I was terrified. I was shaking the whole time," Melanie Morris said. Their home was one of the several homes near Maddock Road and 17th Avenue splattered by pink fire retardant.
