If you were passed by Academy Del Sol School Tuesday, you may have seen several kids enjoying a day full of obstacle courses and field activities. While it may have just seemed like an afternoon of fun, those "games" may help keep kids safe when an emergency hits. On Wednesday, Drexel Heights Fire District kicked off its 17th annual Mini-Muster Madness at Academy Del Sol School located at 7102 W. Valley Crest Pl. The annual event that started in 1987 brings local firefighters into second-grade classrooms in the Tucson area to help teach kids a series of fire safety lessons. At the end of the event, the kids then get to enjoy an outdoor field day where they get to show off the skills they learned in their lessons. "This is the seventeenth year that Drexel Heights Fire District has been doing it. It's an amazing program. It's been around since 1987 and it just really works because the kids really get that message by physically practicing those skills just like they do a fire drill at school they're prepared for that," Tracy Kosloski of DHFD said.
