A serious head-on collision occurred in Eloy Thursday morning. Details weren't available, but according to dispatchers there were seven patients, including children who had to be extricated from one of the vehicles. Three helicopters were called to transport the more seriously injured patients to Phoenix-area hospitals. A fourth helicopter was requested but canceled en route. The crash happened around 7:15 a.m. at Battaglia Road and Frontier Street. Eloy Police Department and Eloy Fire District first responders went to the scene. Both roads were closed as crews tended to the injured. More information will be published when it becomes available.
