Officials are investigating an apartment fire that left one person dead Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 100 block of west Valencia Road at 1:52 p.m. May 14, according to a news release from TFD, where they arrived four minutes later and saw smoke coming from the windows and door frame of a second-story apartment.
Once the fire was under control, crews searched the apartment and found a man dead inside. Responding crews say they didn’t hear a working fire alarm at the scene, the release stated, and several adjacent apartments were damaged by the flames. The fire, which is the fourth fire fatality in the city this year, took 13 units, 29 firefighters and 12 minutes to control.
Officials with TFD and the Tucson Police Department are still investigating the cause of the fire.
