Arizona reported 1,880 new COVID-19 cases and 17 new known deaths on Sunday as hospitalizations for the disease continued to rise to their highest levels since August. Sunday's newly reported cases marks another high case report for Arizona, among the highest seen since the summer. The U.S. for three days tallied more than 100,000 daily new cases for the first times since the pandemic began. Identified COVID-19 cases in Arizona rose on Sunday to 259,264 and known deaths were at 6,164, according to the daily report from the Arizona Department of Health Services. New cases have eclipsed 1,000 for 12 of the past 15 days. The past several weeks have seen relatively higher daily case reports as the virus spreads at its fastest rate in Arizona since June, although case numbers are still well below where they were during the summer peak.
