A small brush fire started blazing Monday morning near Tempe Marketplace. The fire started around 5:40 a.m. near Rio Salado Parkway and McClintock. The Tempe Fire department had several crews on scene to put the fire out. Tempe Fire's Assistant Chief Andrew Glass says originally the fire shut down a lane on the 202 eastbound next to Tempe Marketplace. She says the area is not accessible safely to due the water level near the river bottom. Glass says they are continuing to work on the area to make sure there are no hot spots. Arizona Department of Transportation says the fire is under control and that firefighters have "quenched the blaze," on Facebook.
