Northwest Fire District announces grant for improved communication technologies

Communication technologies are very important to first responders, especially when answering to service calls- and fire departments across Southern Arizona are about to get some high-tech improvements. The Northwest Fire Department announced a grant of more than $2.8 million from the Department of Homeland Security that will go towards implementing and upgrading mobile and portable radio communications for fire agencies across Southern Arizona- and will improve communication with state and local federal agencies. Fire agencies paticipating in this grant include: The Northweswt Fire District, Tucson Fire Department, Golder Ranch Fire District, Rincon Valley Fire District, Drexel Heights Fire District, Green Valley Fire District, Pascua Yaqui Fire Department, Picture Rocks Fire District, Corona De Tucson Fire District. and Helmet Peak Volunteer Fire Department.
