Woman crossing against red light hit and killed in south Phoenix

PHOTO: A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle in south Phoenix on Thursday morning. Phoenix police said 53-year-old Magdalena Valenzuela was walking in a crosswalk against the red light at 16th Street and Baseline Road around 5:15 a.m when she was hit by a vehicle. She was transported to an area hospital where she died. The driver that struck Valenzuela stopped and remained on the scene. No signs of impairment were detected.
