The driver of a pickup truck may have been impaired at the time of a crash outside of Phoenix that killed two children traveling in a van with their family, authorities said. Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said the driver was airlifted to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries after Saturday’s crash northwest of Wickenburg. The age and gender of the driver haven’t been released yet by authorities. DPS officials said the crash occurred on U.S. 93 when the truck allegedly crossed over the center striped line and struck the axle of a semi-trailer in tow by a commercial truck-tractor. After the impact, DPS said the pickup then collided with the van that was carrying a family of seven. Two children under the age of 10 died at the scene while the five surviving family members were transported to with hospital with minor injuries, DPS said.
