The Phoenix Fire Department says a 14-year-old boy is in extremely critical condition after he was hit by a car in Phoenix this morning. The crash happened at about 8:00 a.m. near 59th Avenue and Baseline Road, which is right by Betty Fairfax High School. Phoenix Police Sgt. Vincent Cole says when officers arrived on scene, they found a student from Betty Fairfax High School laying in the roadway. He was walking to school and he walked in between a backup of cars when he was struck by one. The student was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Cole says the driver remained on scene. He says that speed nor impairment were factors in the crash.
