When it comes to emergencies, seconds can make the difference between life and death. The Scottsdale Fire Department found a way to get inside houses quicker when seniors hurt themselves and cannot answer the door. "The City of Scottsdale offers a lockbox program for our senior citizens," said Dave Folio with The City of Scottsdale Fire Department. "We'll come out and install a lockbox for anybody that fills out our form." Crews put a key inside the lockbox, and they attach it somewhere outside the house, like a back gate. Only firefighters and police crews have the code to the lockbox for emergencies. For Scottsdale seniors and people with special needs making less than $25,000 a year, The Scottsdale Area Association of Realtors, Scottsdale Police and Fire Departments, and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office give the emergency lockboxes to them for free.
