Rescuers recently saved a 6-week-old kitten that was stuck in a Phoenix storm drain for more than a week, the Arizona Humane Society said. AHS medical technicians and members of Phoenix Fire Station 61 rescued the animal with a trap after it evaded rescue attempts for two days near 20th Street and Indian School Road, AHS said in a press release. When animal medical technicians evaluated the kitten they determined he was underweight with fleas and predicted he’ll need a couple of weeks in recovery to return to good health. A rescuer in an AHS video said firemen were throwing chicken down the drain for the past week leading up to the rescue. “He was straight down the drain and then in, so every time we’d open the drain he’d run down the drain and we couldn’t get to him,” a rescuer said in the video. “Yeah, so, the only way to get him out was that trap.”
